This past year the Central Florida SCCA RallyX series has put on one of the best seasons I have ever seen in the history of the state. This is all thanks to Doug McCabe who is the man in charge of the entire project. He set out to take over the state and show everyone how fun and easy RallyX is. This has never been easy in Florida but from the looks of how many new racers that have attended the events I would say he is doing a great job. Also, a big thanks has to go out to Tim Mincey Sr. and Bob Ricker who were there at the begining and helped the grow the core of this racing program.
Moving to Modified Front Wheel Drive and third for overall points we have Juan Cardozo with 465 points. M2F is undeniably the most competitive class over the years which would many times trump the times of the All Wheel Drive cars. Juan worked hard to get his Ford Focus in its winning form and it shows.
Next honors goes to Brent Thompson in his Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. He clinched the Prepared All Whel Drive class with his great driving which earned him his 390 points for the year.
There is a tie for 300 points between two completely differnet classes. First is Duncker Felix who retains champion of the Modified All Wheel Drive class and Tony Brizzolara who won the Stock Front Wheel Drive class. They both ran three events for the year and max scored in all of them. Congrats two both of them.
This is just the top class leaders and there are so many more talented drivers to be named. The competition was fierce this year and I hope to see them all return in the 2013 season which should start up around early February. |

After one of the best RallyCross events last weekend we are returnung to Port St. Lucie Fairgrounds for the next round. The grounds at the fairgrounds are very durable but no so much where the tires are destroyed. Just perfect in that Goldilocks zone. You should expect perfect Florida November weather and some exciting racing. Spectating is always allowed and is free. Event Info: Surface is medium gravel to some sand which will hold up to heavy rain. The course will be fast and flowing with some technical areas. Entry fee is $50 for SCCA Members and $65 for Non Members. The registration for the event is at DLBRacing.com Please Register. SCCA RallyCross is a solo timed event where each car goes one by one through the course as quick as possible. The course is lined with cones so if you go off and hit one or miss a gate penalty time is added. At the end all the lap times are added for a total time. RallyX demands consistency and speed through out the day which you will find is the best driver training out there. Everyone can do this in virtually any factory car. No experience needed all you need is a Drivers License, a helmet, and a car. From teenagers to the elders RallyX will teach you about car control and how to stay young.

We are returning to the awesome St. Lucie County Fairgrounds for a rally cross. The last time we were there was in Dec. of 2011 with the Florida Region SCCA. Now since Florida region no longer has a rally program the Central Florida SCCA has decided to take over the location with full force. We have had many event at the fairgrounds and it has proven to be the best location for rally cross that we have ever had. The surface holds up incredibly well, even in the pouring rain. The area is large so the course does not need to be so tight and there are many great spectator areas. I highly recommend this to all the Florida rally racers out there. The registration is officially done through DLBracing.com but you could also register here if you have problems with DLB. The Entry fee is $50 for SCCA members and $65 for non members. |
Now the points. The man with the most points in the year is the awesome Lucien Cambre with a 500 point year and the top spot in Prepared Rear Wheel Drive. We hope to see him repeat next year in his 300ZX.
Just behind Skip with 490 total points is Robert Slade in the same 300ZX competing in Stock Rear Wheel Drive. The Stock Rear class has a bit more competitors but did not affect Robert at all.
Rick Wilson takes fourth overall and the 1st spot in Prepared Front Wheel Drive. He earned 445 points through out the year. Rick has a lot of experience in stage rally with his Ford Escort GT and he was able to translate that easily to RallyX.

This was the first year for the Modified Rear Wheel Drive class and Colin Rogers was able to take it by coming in first at the last two events with his 1986 BMW 325. Colin has shown that he can be quick and put on a good show. He ended the year with 200 points in M2R
For Stock All Wheel Drive there was a four way tie. Even though Doug Williams with his Subaru STI got the year end trophy he actually shares the honor with Gregory Voth, Carlos Filipe, and Alan Moore. They all have one event victory a piece and 100 points each.
